Searching for a Mattifying Primer? This Makeup Artist Uses Lean Screen™ SPF 50+

Multi-hyphenate Molly is a beauty journalist, broadcaster, and qualified MUA – so it’s safe to say she’s tried a million-and-one primers and sunscreens and knows exactly what’s worthy of a spot in your beauty bag.

As a beauty editor and makeup artist who waxes lyrical about the importance of wearing SPF all year round, it’s safe to say I’ve tried and tested a lot of sunscreens in my time. Now I’ve hopefully got your attention, I wanted to shine a spotlight on a current day-to-day favourite of mine, from a brand I wholeheartedly trust when it comes to protecting my skin.

Ultra Violette’s Lean Screen SPF 50+ Mattifying Zinc SKINSCREEN™ offers broad spectrum protection – shielding your skin from both UVA and UVB rays, while also fighting free radicals thanks to the antioxidant-enriched Kakadu plum. Even though it’s mattifying, rest assured your skin won’t feel dry as it contains PENTAVITIN® to deliver a refreshing hit of hydration.

For me, the main reason I opt for this fragrance-free formula is for its mattifying magic, which works wonders on my oily, acne-prone skin. It’s perfect for no-makeup-days as it gives my skin a gorgeous glow without looking greasy or leaving behind a white cast.

To apply, I squeeze out two fingers’ length of the product and apply to my face, neck and ears as the final step of my skincare routine. I allow a couple of minutes for the product to sink in before reaching for my Sheen Screen™ SPF 50 Hydrating Lip Balm in shade ‘Blow Out’ to complete my low-key look. Sheen Screen™ is an amazing SPF lip balm (because lips need protection too!), which nourishes while giving a gorgeous wash of colour. It also comes in 4 other shades for each and every occasion.

Because of my skin type, I often find SPFs don’t sit well under my makeup and not only do I end up looking really shiny, but everything I apply seems to slide off mere hours after applying – but not with Lean Screen! It really does create the perfect mattified base for everything that follows, and I don’t need to use too much powder to set my look. If I’m doing a bridal makeup on someone with similar skin to me, and it’s going to be a really hot day, you can bet that this will be the SPF I’m reaching for.
