Sale price£34.00

Velvet Screen™ SPF 40 Blurring Mineral SKINSCREEN is a mineral-only, fragrance-free formula made for skin that’s sensitive, reactive and a little dramatic in the face of sunscreen. With a soft cream texture that even the most easily offended skin won’t reject, it’s high protection SPF that handles touchy skin super gently withzinc oxide and a soothing complex to calm and protect. Velvet Screen delivers a soft-blur, IRL skin-filter finish, while priming seamlessly for makeup with zero pilling.

  • For skin types that loudly protest most forms of sun protection – we see your angry red reactions, so allow us to counter with the most delicate daily UV defence. Velvet Screen™ SPF40 Blurring Mineral SKINSCREEN™ is designed for sensitive types that are suss on every ingredient.

Every damn day, even when you’re staying indoors (srsly we mean it)! Apply as the final step in your skincare routine, right after your moisturiser and before your makeup.

Always read the label. Follow the directions for use. Avoid prolonged high-risk sun exposure. Wear a hat, protective clothing and sunglasses when exposed to the sun. Re-apply frequently.

Pentavitin: A moisture-loading magnet for the skin, adding and improving hydration by locking in moisture for 72 hours.

Every new Ultra Violette formula undergoes at least two, and in many cases three to five, rounds of independent SPF and UVA testing at different laboratories before it launches. Our entire existing range has now been retested under this same stringent process, and we're committed to retesting our products every 18 months. All of this testing is done on products taken straight off the shelf, the same tubes you would buy, and every single result has come back at or above its labelled SPF.

That rigour extends to the labs themselves. Many of our labs utilise BIPEA accreditation, a non-profit that sends every lab the same sample to test and scores how accurately each one performs, providing quality control for the labs themselves, not just the products. We are also working with Suncert, an organisation recognised globally for its expertise in sun protection science, for an additional layer of independent scrutiny. Importantly, we are no longer working with the manufacturer or laboratory originally used to make and test Lean Screen.

FAQ

When developing Velvet Screen, our goal was to create a sunscreen that balanced both high performance and everyday wearability, while also responding to what we consistently heard from our community: a desire for a 100% mineral sunscreen. To achieve this, we formulated Velvet Screen using 25% zinc oxide, which is the maximum concentration permitted for use in sunscreen products. Increasing protection beyond this level using zinc oxide alone would have required significant compromises, such as creating a much thicker, heavier formula that was less comfortable to apply and wear, or alternatively incorporating chemical UV filters or SPF boosters, which would no longer align with our commitment to a purely mineral formulation. Ultimately, we prioritised creating a product that balanced efficacy, wearability, and our community's preference for a 100% mineral SPF, while continuing to listen to feedback and remain transparent as we learn and evolve!

This is an Ultra Violette owned and formulated product and while it remains a 100% mineral SPF, we have updated the formula with a refined blend of ingredients to enhance the feel and skincare profile. As with Lean Screen, it has been created for those with sensitive or inflamed skin in mind. As part of these refinements, we also transitioned to different zinc oxide sources to help optimise the performance and sensory experience of the formula.

We now work with a small handful of vetted, reputable, ISO-accredited labs across Australia, Europe, North America and South America for both in vivo and in vitro testing methods of our entire range to ensure the SPF claim is accurate. We also have an external SPF-testing expert review each report. This process means we will never be reliant on a single test result, method or lab.

Velvet Screen is an Ultra Violette owned and formulated SPF and was manufactured at a TGA licensed manufacturer in Australia. This is not the same manufacturer who made Lean Screen.

Zinc oxide naturally begins as a white powder, and like all high-zinc mineral sunscreens, Velvet Screen may leave a visible cast on some skin tones. We worked extensively to create a formula that feels as elegant, lightweight, and wearable as possible while maintaining the benefits of a 100% zinc-based sunscreen.
That said, a zinc-only SPF doesn’t have the same versatility as a chemical sunscreen when it comes to achieving a seamless finish across different skin tones. That's why we continue to offer a wardrobe of SPF formulas, including options that blend more seamlessly across a broader range of skin tones, allowing customers to choose the sunscreen that best suits their skin and preferences.

Velvet Screen is a 100% mineral cream formula, while Future Fluid is a lightweight, fluid-style mineral-based SPF. They’re designed to deliver different finishes and suit different skin types and preferences. If you’re looking for a 100% mineral option for reactive or sensitive skin, Velvet Screen is enriched with a smoothing complex to help calm and support the skin while delivering a soft, naturally blurred finish. Future Fluid, on the other hand, has a super lightweight texture that melts into the skin for a more natural, barely-there finish.

Velvet Screen provides a soft blurred finish!

Velvet Screen is a 100% mineral, fragrance-free SPF designed for skin that doesn’t always get along with chemical sunscreen filters. It’s calming, plush, softly blurring and made with a high level of soothing zinc oxide, alongside ingredients chosen to support skin that’s prone to irritation.
